In order to meet the standards of some significant matches, the refurbishment of the football stadium started from 2016, improving some infrastructures and converting it into an all-seat stadium. After the completion of the first-stage refurbishment, the football stadium can fulfill all requirements for hosts of Albanian Superliga matches. This refurbishment covers many aspects of the football stadium, such as the playing surface, plastic seat of main stand, CCTV and renovation of the changing room for players and officials. Funded by the Municipality of Gjirokastër, the Albanian Football Association and the club’s boss Grigor Tavo, the refurbishment was completed at a cost of 15,000,000 Albanian lek, about €110,000.
